Miguel Gutierrez · Co-founder, Peekgentic · Dallas, Texas
I build the software that takes the retyping off Dallas office teams.
Who I am
I'm a student at SMU, studying computer science and finance, and I co-founded Peekgentic in Dallas with Steven Law, who studies at UTD.
My family runs a landscaping business here in Dallas-Fort Worth. The first real software I built for a business was its billing system.
At SMU I'm the treasurer of our SHPE chapter (Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers) and part of the LAUNCH SMU Accelerator.
What I do
I sit with the people who do the work, watch how the desk really runs, and build software around it. The typing goes away. A person still approves every step.
Some of what I have built:
- An order desk for a manufacturerReads customer purchase orders from email, enters them, and sets up each job.see it
- Purchasing toolsTurn bills of materials into vendor orders and check every vendor reply against the PO.see it
- A voice inbox assistantReads a floor manager's email to them so they can answer hands-free.see it
- Billing for my family's landscaping businessRecurring visits become invoices in one click, and payments get matched.see it
- A website for a Dallas book publisherBook pages, buy links and an author application form.see it
- OathAn accountability app where friends put real stakes on their goals. It won $3,000 at SMU's Hilltop Founders Pitch Competition.
What I want to do
I want every growing office in Dallas-Fort Worth to handle more work without the next hire, and I want to be the person owners call when a desk is buried.
I'm also collecting stories from Dallas business owners about how they built their companies. If you have one, I'd love to hear it.
